About Vitl
Vitl is a company based in the UK which is trying to shape the future of the nutrition market via a much more personal approach.
Instead of just offering a range of products of waiting for you to make your decision based off the benefits, Vitl take you through a full online consultation to help assess your needs and finish it by offering you supplements that they think will be the best fit for you.
The most notable of these is the Vitl Essential One which is a multivitamin which is tailored to how you answer the questionnaire – which is something that we haven’t come across before. We’ll get into more detail on that later.
They also offer blood tests and DNA tests to find other issues in your health that may or may not need fixing.
Our readers have been asking us for our view on the Essential One for a while, so in this report, we’ll be taking a look at Vitl’s flagship mutlivitamin and giving our feedback on how it appears to us.
Vitl Reviews | What are people saying?
On the whole, the reports of positive. There are many independent websites which are speaking highly of Vitl. There’s plenty of good reports on their TrustPilot page too – although we suggest you take those with a pinch of salt considering how they can be manipulated.
But then again, it’s tough to find a problem with a multivitamin. The only negative we found was that some people were having trouble with the turnaround time on the DNA and Blood Tests, Vitl took full responsibility for this and claimed it was due to backlog.
They appear to be on top of handling these types of problems. From what we’ve been reading, there’s no major upsets with any of the Vitl reviews.
Vitl Price
Vitl offer three different types of services and here is the pricing for each one:
- Vitl Essential One Vitamins: £14.95 / $19.95 a month.
- DNA Nutrition Kit: £89.00 / $89.00
- Vitamin & Cholesterol Blood Test: £49.95 / $65.95
They do offer more products in their range such as Vitamin D, Post and Pre Natal supplements and more, which all come in at a higher price range.
But for the purposes of this review, we’ll be focusing more on the Essential One Vitamin and the tests. These seem to be the products that are readers are asking us about the most.
So what are these products in Vitl and what exactly do they do.
Vitl Vitamins
This is what Vitl is known for, their vitamins. Vitamins are a great way to make up for any deficiencies in your diet to help your operate at optimum health.
Vitl is mainly known for their Essential One vitamins which is a personalized multivitamin aimed at promoting the needs that your body needs to help you reach your personal health goals.
They also offer a personalized pack of vitamins which help to promote you custom diet and lifestyle.
Vitl also has an individual pack of vegan vitamin D3s. Which is a vitamin most people don’t get enough of throughout the day.
There’s also Vitl pregnancy vitamins which come in various forms to help with fertility, prenatal (while pregnant) and breastfeeding.
Vitl have quite the range, but as we’ve mentioned we’ll be mainly looking at the Essential One in this review.
Vitl Essential One: Our Review / Consultation
This is currently the most talked about product that Vitl provides, but is Essential One really all that?
For the purposes of this review, we took a consultation from Vitl to see exactly how they worked out what they think your body needs.
Below, is a summary of the main questions were asked, followed by what they offered us:
- What’s your name?
- What is your email?
- Tell us your Gender
- What is your age?
- How healthy would you describe your lifestyle?
- What areas looking to improve in your lifestyle?
- Do you have any dietary requirements? (Vegan etc, allergies)
- How often do you eat oily fish?
- How often do you eat meat?
- How often do you eat legumes?
- Are you allergic to dairy, nuts etc?
- Do you smoke?
- How often do you drink more than 4 drinks a night?
- How often do you drink 3 caffeinated drinks a day?
- Do you often find that you’re stressed? (there’s no way to answer “no” this question)
- How does stress make you feel?
- Do you struggle to remember things?
- Do you suffer from brain fog?
- Do you get sleepy or fatigued? (again, no “no” answer)
- How often do you exercise for more than 30 minutes a week?
- Which area of fitness do you want to focus on?
- How is your sleep?
- How would you describe your skin?
- How would you describe your hair?
- Do you get 30 minutes of sunlight every day?
- Do you get colds more than twice a year?
- Does it take you longer than 5 days to recover? (even if you answer no to colds)
- Are you trying for a baby?
It seems like a lot, but you’ll whizz through the quiz in a couple of minutes.
After answering these questions here is the formulation I was offered:
If you can’t read that, here it written out:

This was targeted at helping with Stress / Anxiety, Fitness and Energy. Weirdly, I tried my best to say stress or anxiety was not a problem for me – except on the question where I couldn’t explicitly say no. Yet it still pulled this as one of the main focuses of the supplement.
Regardless, it’s a nice little stack from Vitl, especially the Vitmain D3 with the K2 as support. But we have to say, that this is a very stripped back mutlivitamin.
The Zinc and Magnesium were good for testosterone too. Zinc promotes, while Magnesium helps free testosterone. But I would get all of these in a standard male multivitamin anyway.
Vitl Essential One is a nice idea, but we think if you really want to benefit from a multivitamin you should take a comprehensive stack that covers all areas. The main problem is that this survey can’t work out what your body is deficient in by just asking you.
That said, this product is called the Essential Ones, not Every Single One and for the price it’s hard to argue with this quick vitamin top-up.
If you were interested in totally optimizing your vitamin and mineral levels, you would have pay a fraction more to get a good quality mutlivitamin that covered all areas.
Vitl DNA Test Reviews
This is one of the more interesting services that Vitl offer: a DNA test.
The aim is to look at your DNA to get a better idea of how your body reponds to your diet and lifestyle – and how to work with that for a better quality of life.
Vitl send you a pack that is used to swab your saliva. You send it back to them and they upload your personal results to your account online.
We’re unsure about how Vitl makes these judgements but they claim to use your DNA to understand your body’s alcohol sensitivity, use of fat, caffeine metabolism, metabolic rate and more.
This isn’t an area that we’ve tested, so we’re not going to go into much detail in our review.
Some people claim to be having a positive experience from this DNA test – but there’s only a handful of reports out there.
Vitl Blood Test Review
Likewise with the Vitl Blood Test, it’s hard to find any consumer reviews outside of the website and Trustpilot page.
With the Vitl Blood Test, a pack arrives and you take a finger-prick blood test. This analyses what you are, and are not getting enough of by looking the following vitamin levels:
- Vitamin D
- Ferritin (Iron)
- Zinc
- Active B12
- Folate
And the following Cholesterol levels:
- Triglycerides
- Total Cholesterol
- HDL Cholesterol
- LDL Cholesterol
- Cholesterol Ratio
After all this information is taken Vitl then give you a dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and also allows Vitl to give you a more accurate custom vitamin pack for any deficiencies you may have.
The only concern with this is that you may be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals one day – and not in others. We think this could be better performed with numerous tests throughout the month to establish averages and treat accordingly from there.
But then that is very demanding on both Vitl and on the consumer.
Is there a Vitl Health 30 Day Free Trial?
There is a 30 day free trial of Vitl, but only under specific circumstances. Vitl seems to be only available with the 30 day trail to Virgin RED customers.
This allows you to get a free trial of the Vitl Essential One, if you want to test it out without paying for it. However, as we’ve mentioned, you’d have to be a member of Virgin RED to get these perks.
Vitl Essential One Review
As you can see, this is an interesting approach to mutlivitamins. Vitl’s Essential One gives you an online consultation to try and determine what you may be missing from your diet.
Despite its flaws – a 2 minute consultation may not be enough to determine what you need, and you only get given a few vitamins – it’s a nice concept, and for the price it’s not that bad.
But then again, if you want full comprehensive vitamin and mineral support, it may not be the best option for you. However, if you want to try it out, and you think all you need is just a little boost – it may be what you need.
