  • Vitamin C – <1 mg
  • Vitamin D – 0.025 mcg
  • Potassium – 1.5 mg
  • Calcium – 21 mg
  • Iron – 2.1 mg
  • Phosphorus – 96 mg
  • Magnesium – 9 mg
  • Manganese – 1.3 mg

This gives you the following macros from a 30 g serving:

  • Calories: 100
  • Total Fat: 1.2 g
  • Cholesterol: 0 g
  • Carbohydrate: 2 g
  • Protein: 20 g

As you can see, it’s VERY low in carbohydrates and high in protein which makes it perfect for a ketogenic diet – or any specific dietary needs as it doesn’t tip the scales on either the fat or carb side of things.

Below, we look closer at the main ingredient in Performance Lab Protein; the Oryzatein® protein.

Oryzatein® Organic Brown Rice Protein

Performance Lab SPORT Protein uses Oryzatein® organic certified brown rice protein.

This is rice protein which Performance Lab source from organic rice farms. This rice then has organic enzymes applied to them and at a low heat.

This gives you a pure source of protein with none of the drawbacks that get from typical whey, along with a few more benefits.

Being Oryzatein®, it’s a patented form of rice protein which is backed by third party research showing it to:

  1. Work just as effective as whey protein for feeding and growing your muscles.
  2. Be a supplement form of a complete protein, meaning it is comprised of 20 amino acids.
  3. Contains a form of leucine that absorbs 30% faster than the leucine in whey protein.

The leucine angle is really interesting, whey protein takes on average around 85 minutes, while the leucine in Performance Lab protein takes around 67 minutes. It’s a lot better.

There’s a lot of research into Oryzatein® which has made it clinically-proven to help boost:

  • Muscle
  • Power
  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Recovery
  • Fullness and Hunger Reduction

Performance Lab Protein helps to take all this one step further by enhancing the entire product with Bacillus Coagulans which is a probiotic which improves your overall absorption of the powder giving you even faster results.

That combined with the Leucine which is 30% faster to absorb than the whey alternative – and you have a powerhouse of a protein powder.

Oryzatein® VS Whey

We’ve touched on how much easier Oryzatein® is to absorb than your standard whey protein – but what other reasons separate it from the most commonly used type of protein?

There are three main reasons why we feel Oryzatein® is better than why:

1. It’s cleaner.

Whey protein comes from cows, it’s a bovine product. You can’t know the full origins of how the animal was treated / fed and how clean the product actually is.

It also neeeds a lot of processing before it can be used in supplements to clean it up and make it useable.

Whereas Oryzatein® is completely clean and comes organic rice farms. Plus the processing is minimal, adding natural enzymes over a low heat.

2. It tastes better.

Don’t get us wrong, there are some great whey protein flavors – but they’re mostly artificial and a lot is needed to mask the dairy taste of whey.

Rice protein is overwhelmingly neutral and a few natural flavorings are more than enough to get it good and tasty.

3. It’s more comfortable to consume.

Many people have digestive discomfort and gastric distress from the high dairy content in whey. Especially those who are lactose intolerable.

Whereas Performance Lab SPORT Protein is suitable for vegans as well as being free of both dairy and gluten.

There’s plenty of advantages to be had with rice protein over whey.
