As you can see, there are 0 grams of carbs and 0 grams of fat. Which makes it a good choice for those who are on a keto diet or want more control over their macro intake.

Bulletproof Collagen Protein Powder delivers 25 servings per container, which is a generous amount.

  • Hydrolyzed Collagen Powder

This is the only ingredient in Bulletproof Collagen, just collagen protein powder packed with amino acids. Bulletproof Nutrition claim their cows are pasture-raised without any added hormones. As well as the collagen being processed several times via enzymes keeping the peptides in tact.

However, this comes with a range of pros and cons which should be explored below:

  1. Flavorless – Completely  flavorless allowing you to add it to whatever smoothie or food you choose without it affecting the flavor of the final product.
  2. No artificial sweeteners or flavors  – Another benefit to going with the flavorless option, it allows a lot more opportunity for the product to stay completely natural.
  3. Just Protein – No other macros like carbs or fat to throw off your macros if you’re doing something like the keto diet.

  1. Not Vegan – The protein comes from cows, in doing so it is not fit for vegan consumption.
  2. Potential Side Effects – There is a small risk of side effects when using collagen protein, including heartburn and upset stomach.
  3. It has been recalled before – Bulletproof has recalled a batch of collagen protein in January 2018 due to undeclared milk. This may happen again.

As you can see, there’s plenty of pros – but just as many cons. These may be some things to consider when purchasing Bulletproof Collagen Peptides Protein Powder.

Issues such as the recall, we’ll cover later in this article.

Bulletproof Collagen Powder – Directions and How to Use

Take two scoops (4 tablespoons / 20g) of Bulletproof Collagen Powder and add it to your favorite drink, be it a smoothie, coffee or juice. It’s best to be taken just after a gym workout.

Bulletproof Collagen Protein Recall

In January 2018, Bulletproof 360, Inc. recalled one lot #1017088 of Bulletproof Collagen Protein dietary supplement because of undeclared milk. If you have an allergy or intolerance to milk – it could’ve caused several health issues, and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.

Bulletproof  did the right thing recalling it at the time – and hopefully their process is more streamlined to avoid this happening again in the future. However if you do have an intolerance or allergy to milk – we suggest you steer clear of Bullet Collagen Peptides in case this happens again.

It’s unlikely, but you should still take precautions.

Bulletproof Collagen VS Vital Proteins Peptides

Bulletproof Collagen vs Vital Proteins

How does Bulletproof Collagen compare to Vital Proteins?

Vital Protein also offer a Collagen protein powder similar to Bulletproof Nutrition’s Collagen Peptides.  There’s not many major differences, similar composition, servings and price.

Regardless, there are still some differences that you should be aware of. Let’s check them out.

Vital Proteins cost more than Bulletproof Collagen. 20 oz of Vital Proteins Collagen costs $43.00. Whereas a similarly sized 17 oz of Bulletproof Collage protein costs $39.99.

The trade off is that 3 oz difference. You will get more servings out of Vital Proteins but you’ll have to spend another $3.00 to get there.

Bulletproof Collage Peptides has a slightly better dosage of amino acids per serving, here are the two compared together:

Bulletpoof Collagen VS Vital Proteins

As you can see, per serving, Bulletproof Collagen has more:

  • Alanine
  • Arginine
  • Glycine
  • Histidine
  • Hydroxyproline
  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine
  • Lysine
  • Methionine
  • Proline
  • Serine
  • Threonine
  • Tyrosine

Vital Proteins does have some things that Bulletproof doesn’t have like Hydroxylysine, but that shouldn’t have too much of an impact here.

The main takeaway is that Bulletproof Collagen has much more for your body to use when it comes to repairing your muscles and overall recovery.

From research, no issues have been reported from either Bulletproof Collagen or Vital Proteins. However, only Bulletproof Collagen has been recalled – at risk of affecting those who have an intolerance to milk.

Having a recall is a serious safety issue, and we’d have to give it to Vital Proteins on this one for having the safer product.

Summary: Is Bulletproof Collagen Protein Good for You?

Bulletproof Collagen has benefits in comparison to other protein powders like the more typical whey proteins – but we wouldn’t say it is the best option for you.

Although it may be better than other options such as Vital Proteins, there’s still some areas that are cause for concern – such as the recalls.

It’s not a clean vegan option – it’s an animal based product. A better alternative would be to use something such as rice protein which is much easier for your body to absorb and use.

We recommend:
Performance Lab Protein Stack

Performance Lab's Protein stack is the cleanest and most effective protein powder we've seen on the market.

Made with USDA organic brown rice protein and enhanced with probiotics, it is all natural vegan alternative which claims to be 30% faster to absorb than whey products.

It's low carb at 2 g of carbohydrates per serving, and high protein making it perfect for keto diets or for those who want more control of their macros.
